I am starting to cut a project that was shot at 24p with the varicam. We are using FCP 5 and the 1200A deck to capture via firewire. The film is a doc and there are over 70 hours of material so far. The DP did not have the time to switch tapes when he shot thing at 60fps, however he did slate teh shots . The final project will hopefully be blown up to 35mm. I have some questions.

    1) Should I be using the FCP easy set up for Varicam 24p to capture my footage?

    2) What is the best way to capture the 60fps footage? Because the footage is mixed with 24p footage will I be unable to batch digitize stuff?

Also any othera advcie on my worflow or pointers on my workflow would be appreciated.

    All the best,

    Sean

This site will answer 90% of your questions:

Offspped material needs to be captured seperately. Never capture camera bars as they are always 1 fps and will throw off your capture preset.

Be sure to use a dedicated firewire bus for the 1200a if you are capturing to a firewire 800 drive. No other firewire devices can be connected/operating during capture. Never capture to the internal drive which shares the OS.
