    Hi all

i finally got my system working again on Studio 2 and to my horror i have yet an other problem. this time it must be a setting. we have started to shoot a feature and our DOP used the Varicam he set it to record 720p 24/60 not 23.97 (we are in the UK)

    does fcp6 handle this?

and if so why cant i get it to capture?

i’m tearing my hair out yet again!! i’m not keen on being completely bald, so your hep will be greatly appreciated

we are using the AJ HD1400 deck and we can capture firewire and or AJA KONA LHE (but would prefer Firewire)

    Thank you all in advance

    Nick

    FCP can handle 720p60 at 59.94, 720p30 at 29.97, 720p24 at 23.98…and all formats of 1080i and 1080p…

What are your FCP settings? What EASY SETUP did you choose? Is the deck set to 720p, not the 1080p default? If you want to playback 720p you need to (in my experience) change it to 720p.

    Hi Steve

Thanks for your help, the deck is set to 720p, the easy setup i’ve used is DVCPRO HD – 720p24

i still can’t get it to capture i get preview disabled.

    any thoughts?

    Steve?

Go into the 800 menu….make sure that it is set for HD and not DV. Make sure that VIDEO OUT (dunno where this is…Walter would) and make sure that it is set for 1394 for firewire capture….or HD SDI for Kona Capture via HD SDI.

    Walter? Where art thou?

there’s no 800 menu. But I can see it’s set at dvcpro hd 720p on the LCD of the deck. Any other thoughts. Thanks for your time.

Are you saying he set the camera to 24.0 and not 23.98?

    Hi Shane

yea he set it to 24 not 23.97

i’ve got round it for now by capturing it 1080p 24 with the apple proress 422 seems fine. not sure about any other implications.

we’ve shot a few scenes to try and raise some cash. i’m hoping the timecode will be ok so i can recapture at a later date.

    what do you think?

yea the deck has been set to 24/60 it plays out fine i think the deck wound do firewire at 24/60 and my kona card wont do 720p24 (only 23.97)

it will have to do for now

    Thanks
