720/24 is 23.98. You can see that is the case even if you use the Apple DVCPro HD 720/24 preset. the frame rate is 23.98.

That are settings in the Varicam to shoot 24.0 or 23.98, just like there are settings to do so in the AJ1200 and 1400 decks.

Nick, have you tried to modify the preset for 24.0? Try going into the audio/video settings (apple-option-q) and duplicate the dvcpro HD capture preset 720p 23.98 setting and change the frame rate to 24 (from 23.98).

yea i did try that to no avail.

i have worked out thet the deck will not do firewire at 23/24 and my kona kard wont do 24 frames. so for now the 422 pro ress seams to have done the trick.

wil the varicam frame rate converter work on pro ress? i have a 10 sec sequence that i need at slowmo

No, the FRC won’t work on ProRes footage BUT your Kona card will work as an FRC if you choose an easy setup with Varicam in the title, such as AJA Kona3 720p 23.98 ProRes HQ Varicam.
