Again, thanks in advance for all help as I try to learn this program. My company has asked me to shoot some YouTube type in-house training videos and I am under a crunch so the learning curve must be shortened. I am shooting with a brand new Canon Vixia HF R20 and have Vegas Pro 8 loaded on my Dell Inspiron 1520 where the only upgrade is that I have upped the RAM to 4GB.
Obviously the camera has the ability to shoot HD and the playback on the camera is smooth. I have set the mode to SP and the frame rate to PF30 as per https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/24/928164.
When I upload the video to my computer, even after shooting only at an SP level, the video in the preview is so jerky it makes editing almost impossible. Of course it is desirable to have preview quality set to Best (Auto) but at that setting it is like I am looking at a series of still shots. I have tried all the settings and even at Draft (Auto) the highly pixelated video is still jerky. What do I need to do so that the Video Preview is smooth and clear???

Is it something in the preferences? What should I set for a template when starting a new project? It will be shown on a 48″ flatscreen in our conference room.
