    Sure!

I do it all of the time. But you really need to make sure that you have Sony’s Transfer Software 1.1 and using at least FCP 5.1.2.

If you haven any other questions concerning this, feel free to contact me and I will try to help you in any way possible. By the way, my company has been using XDCAM HD since May 2006 and XDCAM products since April of 2005.

Using XDCAM SD and HD at our station. I love the import function.

yes indeed, however if there is a purchasing decision involved, and if you are platform agnostic, then I would recommend waiting a couple of weeks and seeing what is the status of the Apple/Sony XDCAM integration post NAB.
as it stands, there are other NLE’s that have better XDCAM HD integration than FCP is “currently” offering

Are you also mastering final programmes back to XDCAM HD? If so are you doing it through HD SDI or as a firewire file copy, or over gigabit?

I will be mastering final programmes back to XDCAM HD, and would like to know which is the best way: HD SDI or firewire file copy?

If you are editing in XDCAM HD, then export firewire using Sony’s Transfer software.

If you are editing using DVCProHD (like most of us do), use the Print to Video command and use HD-SDI.

I’ve got the PDW-700 and PDW-HD1500 deck, and we can get stuff off the DL discs, but how can we copy disc footage to another disc, and/or output an edited sequence back to disc all on a Mac running all the latest (FCP 5.0.6 and OSX 10.5.6).
    Chris.
