  • Using Video & Audio files as a DVD publishing source in Toast…

    Hallo there,

We’re trying to make further DVD copies of one of our TV series but have hit a stumbling block so can anyone help us out with the following?

Our original DVD files were created in DVD Lab Pro on PC but everything has now been transfered to Mac for storage. We therefore have all the files we need for each DVD (Video and Audio files and the built-in menu within) but when it comes to burning stuff in Toast, we aren’t able to create a proper ‘DVD’ disc which plays using the menus already created. A ‘data’ disc doesn’t of course work in a DVD player and if we make a ‘Video’ disc with the Video and Audio files, the DVD will just start playing from the beginning of the disc and skip the menu. The ‘video’ disc does work on the PC but only if you open Media Player so it doesn’t automatically start up when inserted. SO just how do we get Toast to use Video and Audio files properly as the publishing source?

    Cheers!

You need to burn using the Video_TS folder on the original DVDs. Or make DVD copies directly from the original discs. Or replicate from an original DVD (if it is a DVD-5). To try to burn the elementary streams and menu artwork using Toast skips the mandatory authoring step.

If you have a disc image, that might help you out also.
