Using the Sony USB SxS Memory Card Reader vs. NEXTO Video Storage Device
Hello, I’m here to not only praise the people at NEXTO for the speedy SxS card off-loader, but ask if anyone has compared to the verification processes of this device? I’ve had no problems with the device in all the media, all meaning nothing has been corrupted or not able to be verified, but I’m interested in learning about how a non-Sony device is able to verify Sony SxS cards in general, as the Sony USB card reader does. I noticed that when I did the back-up and BPAV conversion using the same cards, and but tested both units against each other, the media file size was off in both files, but only by a few numbers, it wasn’t drastic, so I guess as long as their is no corrupted media, and both are verifying ok, then no need to worry.
That was just an interesting discovery in using the devices. Both were converting clean, but file sizes sometimes are off by just a few. Does anyone know how the engineering of the NEXTO works? I’m assuming because they have the Sony “SxS” logo on the device, they are in compliance with the Sony technology and processes.
After using and having some bad experiences with the “Transcend” 32GB media cards and Hoodman Adaptors, we’ve switched over to only using Sony SxS, and have had no problems ever since, so pleading with everyone to look into that as well, if you are having those problems and seeking alternative back-up and storage options. The NEXTO rocks the house.
Also, Sony has recently released another camera that shoots to SDHC cards, so can people still use the Transcend cards for these cameras? Has anyone purchased this camera and used alternate Sony brand cards?
Thanks,
Tom
