    Hello –

Relative DVX100 newbie here, still learning all the tricks of the camera. I’m going to be shooting a band in a bar and would like to hook up to the sound system to get good audio (as opposed to using my shotgun mic). I’m not sure how to go about doing this, if I need any extra equipment…. any advice out there?

    Thanks!

Talk to the sound mixer at the show they should be able to get you a feed to the camera. But it would be simpler if they just recorded it and you post-synced it up. That way you don’t have to be tethered down to the mix board.

Thanks Noah, I will hopefully be able to do post-syncing. In case I have to connect to them, do you think they’ll have the cable I’d need, or is that something I would need to bring? And if the latter, what kind of cable would it be?

Definitely bring a very long XLR cable and some adaptors. Most likely the board feed will be RCA, 1/4″ or XLR.
