  • Using text as a mask?

So I have a kind of odd question but is it possible to make written text a mask? What I have is a comp of just paint drops and another of a floor. I want to have the paint on top of the floor and then have writing appear in the paint with the floor showing through the writing. I imagine the best way to do this would be to just have the text act like a mask for the paint but i can’t seem to figure out how to do this. Any ideas?

    Thanks so much in advance!

Dave is right that using the text layer as a track matte is probably your best bet. But you can also create masks from text if you really need to.
