Using Proxy Media Issue FCPX 10.0.3
Posted by Jay Craig on May 8, 2012 at 11:01 pmOk..I’m editing a video and I’m trying to use the Proxy Media because my laptop lags using the original. When I imported my filed I check “Create Proxy Media” and “Create Optimized Media” but when I go to preferences and choose “Use Proxy Media” I get this error.

All help will be greatly appreciated

Choose transcode media.
Is “proxy” available?

May 8, 2012 at 11:37 pmOf its greyed out, then FCPX doesn’t need to create proxies.
What format is your footage?

May 9, 2012 at 12:11 amI don’t think you can make proxies of h264 material especially if the media is already on the event.
What problems are you having exactly?

May 9, 2012 at 12:16 amI’m editing this music video on my laptop but it has a horrible lag so its making it hard to edit.
Its a MacBook Pro (2.4 GHz 8GB 1067 MHz DDR3) <— If that matters
I have plenty of space on my hard drive but it still lags.

May 9, 2012 at 12:20 amI had major lag issues with 10.0.3.
I’m not telling you to upgrade, but it did help.
You can always zip a copy of 10.0.3 and go back to it.
You should back up all events and projects as well, but this is done for you when you upgrade and restart X.
