  • Using Premiere Pro to output a 784 x 2416 30fps H.264 File

    Hello all,

    I’ve created a timeline editing with native RED 4.5K footage at 784 x 2416 30fps.

    All fine. Business as usual.

But, when it comes to outputting a H.264, 30fps, 9 mbs data rate I cannot get the output size larger then 784 x 1208.
(This is a vertical external billboard)

Any ideas why this can’t be outputted at the sequence settings required?

    Any nuggets of info appreciated!!
    Thanks,
    Steve

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H264#Levels

The vertical resolution can’t be more than 2304 pixels with the 5.1 encoding level.

    Hi Tero,

Thanks for the reply and Wiki link.

Do you know anyway round this to get the resolution requested?

    Thanks,
    Steve

If you need to use H264 those are the restrictions you have to deal with.

    Thanks again Tero!

What would you recommend as an codec alternative?
    Cheers,
    Steve

You should ask the customer what kind of files the billboard software can play.

It’s useless to offer alternatives that won’t work in their system.
