using Premiere Pro CS5 files in CS4
Posted by Dawn Haynes on January 20, 2011 at 8:17 pmHi,
Can anyone confirm that prproj files create in CS5 can be read/edited in CS4?
Thanks!

January 20, 2011 at 9:30 pmMost NLEs are not backward compatible as new functions and effects are added with each new version, sometimes very basic edits can play in older versions if no new items are used, basically you have forward compatibility, like CS4 -> CS5

A state currently exists where you CAN load some CS5 files (sequences, etc) into CS4 as long as the settings and effects and everything you used actually exist in CS4.
This is simply a happenstance that apparently Adobe did not change the structure of the basic file components this time out…but there is no guarantee that will happen the next time…or even after one of the frequent updates Adobe has been releasing…
Don’t rely on it.
