  • Using Optical Stabilizer to get rid of telelens shake

Posted by Trond Hindenes on July 27, 2010 at 6:40 pm

    Hi all,
I’m just trying out the Optical Stabilizer to see if I can use it for a common problem I have: As I do outdoors filming with a rather large tele lens, from time to time i get “Wind Shakes”, as wind gusts throws my lens slightly off. I know I could use a heavier tripod to counter this, but as I need to carry all my gear back and forth I try and stay light.

So, I would deeply appreciate any pointers on how to use Optical Stabilizer to get rid of these shakes. I’ve uploaded a vid where the problem is very visible here:
https://vimeo.com/13680779 (10 first seconds are intentionally blank)

(I have tried playing with the values in the stabilizer, but I can’t seem to get rid of the shake…)

    Premiere Pro CS5(x64)/BCC7 / Canon EOS 7D

It should be a piece of cake. The shaking is very light and camera almost locked. Can you send me a snippet of your video via yousendit?

I’m on win – primarily using Premiere Pro Cs5 on a WIn7x64 system.

    Sweet!
As I wrote, I’m looking for hints and tips to which settings to use on these kinds of vibrations.

    Cheers,

    Peter.
