  • Using my XL1 mic on an XH A1 ???

    Hello,

I’ve always loved the mic on my XL1. I was wondering if there is any way it can be adapted to be used with the XLR inputs on my new XH A1. I was speaking to a tech at a local AV store about the possibility of adapting the 3.5 mm and mini-jack plugs of the XL1 mic to a XLR cable – you know, somehow finding and separating the power and mic lines in that cable and splicing to them to these power and mic plugs. I think he thought he might be able but said he’d first have to know what power the XLI was using. Would it be compatible with the phantom power coming from the XH A1, etc.?

If I could do this I could use this mic as my camera mic while using a boom mic, as the XH A1’a built-in camera mic shuts off once a mic is plugged into one of the XLRs.

Has anybody had any experience with this? Is it possible? Is the power need of the XL1 mic compatible with phantom power of the XH A1 XLR? Can XLR cables be spliced into in the way I’m imagining?

    Thanks.

    John
