Using MPEG Streamclip to convert footage before Importing into FCPX?
Hi,
I was just told the following: If I was given footage shot with 3 cameras and 2 were shot using 24 FPS and 1 was shot using 30 FPS, all 48KHZ Audio, that I would have to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the 1 camera from 30 to 24 FPS before I import it into FCPX. Especially if I plan to use this footage as a Multicam.
Is This True?

Not true in my experience but I can’t say I can remember trying to sync multiple frame rates in a multicam… can’t think of any reason for it not to work though.
At the end of the day you’ve got nothing to lose by just trying it. Worst case is you’ll have to transcode and re-import one camera worth of footage.

I can’t see a reason to do this. I also can’t see a reason to use MPEG streamclip for anything anymore. Does it even run on Yosemite? They quit working on that app 5 years ago didn’t they?

MPEG Stramclip still works, even in El Capitan, but its days have to be numbered. Meanwhile it’s still a handy tool for fast format conversions, although I don’t use it often these days as the current version of Compressor is fast, and pretty much does everything I want.
