    Hi there,
I’m trying to set up STP to record voice overs for a film project that I’m working on. I have a G5 2.0DP with an external analogue mixing board. I have the mic going to the board, and the output from the board going to the G5 analogue line-in. STP can’t find the signal (even though OSX registers the signal in System Prefs>Sound).
The only input choices I have in STP are “built-in audio”, and the instruction manual refers to an digital USB or Firewire audio interface when recording is mentioned.
Am I to believe that you can’t use the internal signal conversion in the G5, and that you must use an external A/D conversion box? If so, why is it that you can use the straight line in with FCP5’s voice over tool?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chris

What input have you asked STP to “see” as the input?

    I can’t believe it’s not butter!

    Hi David,
Thanks for your response. I actually found the source of the problem. It’s not really worth describing, but in STP you can’t monitor the signal without pressing record first.
    Cheers,
    Chris
