  • Using media captured on a PC with Avid on a Mac with FCP.. how?

Posted by Danny on October 15, 2007 at 10:44 pm

One of my clients is capturing footage on a PC using Avid. They want me to edit it on my Mac G5 with FCP. The only problem is the test file they send me won’t import into FCP. I downloaded the Avid codec for Mac, but that didn’t help any. Does anyone know if this is possible to do?
    Thanks,
    Danny

If you’re on an intel-mac then search these forums for your answer, there’s several posts with the link to the correct installer (the Avid site is horrible).

If it’s a non-intel mac then I’d just double check to see you have the right codecs and in the right places, I’ve not had trouble with getting them installed until I got an intel.

    Thanks Adam,
    I’ll give it a try.

    Hi,
I’d probably get a PC put Quicktime on it and convert the files to QT. I had something similar the other day. Quicktime on PC played it.
    Regards.

Thanks for the advise. The only problem is that these projects are half hour shows for Versus. Time to do conversions just isn’t there.
