  • using kona captured footage on a non-kona computer?

I have captured DVCPRO HD footage using the Kona HDSDI input using their Kona DVCPRO HD Codec. My question is… Is it possible to take that footage on a Firewire 800 Drive to a different system and playback and edit the project? It seems that when we bring the project to a system without the kona board it gives us memory errors. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks for your help.

Wonder if loading the Kona drivers on that second mac might make a difference?

Don’t need the Kona Drivers. If you use any DVxxxx or uncompressed codec.

Since no card, no need. This is really something that used to need a second work station card for second workstation a while back.

What about those clips captured with the Apple Uncompressed 4:2:2 8bit or 10bit codec, which apparently is installed with FCP ?

Is there a way to copy the codecs over to the other Macs that doesn’t have FCP installed ?

We move the files machines that do not have KONA2 cards but they do have FCP.

I am sure you can move the codecs, but I am not sure if that is legal.

It’s most likely not legal… but then, If Apple allows you to put Compressor on other Macs just to create a render farm for Compressor and Shake…
