    Hi,

I am thinking about buying motion. I want to do fairly simple green screen stuff i.e shoot a person in green screen and then just take their image and put it over video backgrounds.

Is this easy to do in motion. How good are its green screen capabilities?

    Thanks for any help

    Yes, it’s relatively easy.
Read everything you can find on chromakeying. The keying software and effects software are the easy parts. It’s shooting, lighting, directing and staging for chromakey that is difficult. Without good video, getting a good key is a lot of work.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

With the DV Garage option plugin Motion 2 becomes a lot more capable with green screen. Still it’s first and foremost for motion graphics. Green screen compositing is better in After Effects, Combustion, Shake, etc.

    https://www.dvgarage.com/pgroup/pgroup.php?pgroup=comp

This brings you to the compositing page where you will find info about the different versions of their DV keyer. dvMatte Blast is the version for Motion 2.
