We’re attempting to capture direct-to-disk, bypassing tape decks, using DeckLink Extreme. It worked on a Mac using FCP, but since we need to capture multiple cameras, we’re looking at building PCs and using BM Deck Control. In our first tests we haven’t been able to get Deck Control to capture more than a few seconds of live action.

Anbody using Deck Control to capture on a PC? How about direct-to-disk?

I’ve been doing this since nearly a year, with a DL Extreme. Never a glitch.

My secret? I followed the system requirements on the Decklink web site to the letter.

Do you have a good RAID? Fast enough CPU? Motherboard without bottlenecks? Etc., etc.?

If you follow their specs, it will work perfectly.

If you’re shooting heavily compressed video, you could get away with less of course.
