June 22, 2006 at 5:04 pmI’m new to FCP, I was trying to capture some beta sp footage looping thru my dvcam deck. I selected no machine control in the settings and tried to capture now. For some reason the video did not pass thru to the mac via the firewire. Is this possible. We’re buying the aja or whatever interface but that’s after july 1 when our funding is restored. My project is due by 7/15 it’ll never get here in time.

June 22, 2006 at 5:07 pmIt’s possible, but with this kind of thing you’re dealing with 3 things (1 computer and 2 decks) all of which could have something set wrong.
Start with this: Is there an analog video monitor hooked up to the DVCAM deck? Can you see the video from the Beta tape on THAT monitor? Make sure you have that working before you even worry about the computer at all.

June 22, 2006 at 10:40 pmWhat KIND of deck?
On Sony, there can sometimes be a MENU setting that says something like, “A/V > DV Out”.
Turn this setting to “ON”.
It will send the A/V analog input out via the iLink (FireWire). -

June 22, 2006 at 11:01 pmIf you have a dsr-11 flip the input switch to match your incoming video input. If you are hooked up s video then flip the switch to s video. If using composite, flip switch to composite.
