Using Cloth Tag on Plane, How to then Move that Object?

You can use the Belt Tag to fix some or all of your flag’s points to another object, and then move the other object. Being a simulation, you can’t move the cloth object directly.

Thank you for the advice.

I tried selecting all the points and connected it to a plane object that was big enough to encompass all of the points, and while it is moving, it’s heavily distorting the cloth object.

Am I going about something the wrong way here?

You don’t want to belt *all* the points — that will basically constrain the whole mesh and prevent it from doing it’s cloth thing. Since you’re doing flags you probably just want to belt the points where the flag would attach to the pole or rope. Once you move the belt objects you’ll have to let the sim run for some frames (sort of a pre-roll) in order for everything to calm down.

It’s a bit ‘pants’ but the only workaround i found was to create a second copy of the cloth object and remove its cloth tag. Then i moved the cloth tag from the original object allowing me to move it. When i was happy with the position I just dragged the cloth icon back from the second object onto the first.
