    Using Cineform Prospect HD with AJA Xena

    Hello all,

    Does anyone know what the advantage of using a hardware card with Prospect HD is? Cineform told me that it works best with the AJA Xena. If I understand correctly, it is not necessary to use a hardware card with this plugin, so does the extra hardware simply make it run faster? Does it enable more effects? Any help would be appreciated.

    The Xena card gives you conventional video/audio input/output capabilities. You can monitor via SDI and ingest formats like HDcam.

    I like my system with both CineForm and the Xena card…but if you plan on simply editing something to author to DVD or some other method of distribution other than making a master tape, Prospect works fine without it as well…
