  • Using Audition in Premiere Pro CS4

For several years I used PP CS4 and often utilized the “Edit in Audition” function. I am now using CS4 but in certain situations still prefer to use Audition for audio “tweaking.” I can still do it but I have been exporting the audio with the Adobe Media Encoder, precess it in Audition and then reimport it back into PP CS4. Is there a way avoid these combersome steps. That is, can I get Audition directly available in CS4 the way Soundbooth currently is (and the way it was in CS2)?

Right click on the clip and it should say Edit in Audition.

No. It only says “edit in Soundbooth.” It says “edit in Audition” in CS2. I would like to set it up so that I could have a choice–either Soundbooth or Audition.

Set .wav files on your system to associate with Audition.
In the timeline the audio you want to edit Render and Replace, the Edit Original. That will get it into Audition.
