Using After Affects to create a matte key for Avid?
Hi.
Couldn’t find an answer through search except partial solutions so if someone could help me establish a workflow for what I want to do would be great.
Goal is to isolate an object, for example a face/sword and then apply nice filters to it like glow or shatter inside Avid.
I managed to partially achieve this with the combination of Animatte and then exporting it as PICT, overwriting the Animatte, replacing the fill and then adding the effect with “apply to title/matte” turned on. Problem with this is that exporting to PICT exports only 1 frame and I have the Animatte keyed to the motion, so it would be pretty tiresome to export/import thousands of frames.
As I understood by reading some posts, that this could be done in After Effects (keying the isolated part) and then exporting as a matte key for Avid Import? I’m kinda an AE newbie so if someone could clear this up or perhaps have another solution I would be very grateful!
Cheers!
