Using AE for CG
Hello,
I am using AE 6.5Pro for the first time and I have a simple question about rendering out. I have a 10 minute movie I created in AE that contains only text information with some of the automatic presents set to some of the screens I created. I copied the text from a Powerpoint show and I planned to import the AE movie into AXP and put it on top of a Jumpback.
My question is what render settings should I be aware of. I tried to render it out RGB w/alpha but the file size was to big for my HD. I had to go and delete some stuff. Do I just render an alpha since I only have text? This is the first time I have ever used AE so I might be over looking something that may be common knowledge to you guys and gals.
I do have the Total Training DVD set and I am planning to watch some of the intro stuff this weekend.Thanks for the future help.

What do you plan to do with the file once you have it in movie form – import into a video editor or leave it the way it is? Typically you don’t need an alpha, just RGB, unless you have areas where you want something underneath your movie to show through.
Keep in mind that with a 10-minute movie, anything of decent quality’s going to take up a large amount of space. You can pump your quality way down by upping compression/switching to the .wmv format for your final movie (pulldown menu at the top when you click on your output type in the render queue) if you’re only using this for the Internet; that’ll take up far less space.
