Using a standard HDTV as a monitor
Hey guys,
Simple question:
I have a standard HD TV that I’m using in a pinch to monitor a Varicam (as in, it’s a regular HD TV, not a specified video monitor). I can run from Mon Out to an RCA adapter in on the TV. So obviously the signal is SD, and for some reason it’s black and white too….
But I want to know if I can run an HD signal out of the Varicam and send the HD signal to the TV (via HD-SDI right?). I assume I need an AJA converter box or something like it. Is this the case?
So I just need to run HD-SDI out to AJA box to HDMI in? or to Component in?
Sorry this is probably very elementary, but thanks for the help.

Yes you can.
From an I/O card in the edit would be best. You’d have SDI or maybe HDMI out.
From the cam, run the SDI out thru an AJA box to HDMI to HDTV.
