  • Using a Cloned layer as an Image Mask [solved][tip]

Posted by Paul kenneth Egell-johnsen on September 22, 2011 at 12:27 pm

    Hi,
I am trying to use a cloned version of my map as the source for an image mask. I understand that this is recursive (after thinking about it for a while), and I guess that is why I can’t use the clones as input.

And after thinking while writing I also found the solution. I was trying to add image masks to the original, but I need to first clone the original. Then add the masks to the clone. Further clones is done from the original.

Thus I can swap out the original map with another from the same series and automatically apply my new “style” to it.

Finishing this post even though it is just “thinking out loud”. Perhaps someone else might stumble across it and save some time.
