I am trying to open up audio suite in my Avid Xpress Pro 5.8.3. I keep getting a message that says: user privileges insufficient to start a low level driver. When I click ok the audio suite panel opens and says that the DAE is not connected. Is there a way to fix this?

Try a re-install – seems the DAE is missing.

I’m running the software on Windows Vista. Could that be an issue?

Very likely. Xpress Pro isn’t qualified to run on Vista. You’ll need to downgrade to XP Pro 32bit, or upgrade your Xpress Pro to Media Composer 3.0 ($495 upgrade) to use Vista, and it requires Vista Business, I believe.
