User Manual?
Posted by Matthew Celia on June 21, 2011 at 8:30 pmGetting down to the dirty business of learning this stuff and one thing I really miss is the user manual. Is there one? Or is it reading through the pages and pages of help documents?
Sometimes I just like to print the reading material and soak it all in. Guess I’m one of the few who RTFM.

June 21, 2011 at 9:10 pmIt’s sort of burried…but Gerry Found it. I have a copy of the PDF on my desktop and am now starting to read.

[Gerry Fraiberg] “The long and winding road will eventually lead to the FCP X Help page. Too bad it isn’t more readily available.
Click on the link: For more information, visit https://www.apple.com/finalcutpro.
On the FCP page, click on Tech Specs.
On the Tech Specs page, click on Explore third-party plug-ins, tutorials and other useful resources for Final Cut Pro X. View Resources >
On the Resources page, scroll down to Support > Final Cut Pro Support Page. Click on the link.
On the Final Cut Pro X Support Page, scroll down to Get Started > User Manuals.
Or, follow this link: https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4681
When you click on a manual, you get online help. It would be nice if there is a downloadable PDF. The workaround I used: In the upper right hand corner, click on the printer icon and select: Book – Final Cut Pro Help. Instead of my printer, I selected Bull Zip printer, which is a utility to print to PDF. I now have a PDF file which I will sync to my iPad.”

June 21, 2011 at 10:02 pmI spend 10 hours of my day minimum in front of a screen so I prefer to read it on paper… I did print double sided.
It is available as a PDF if you “print” to PDF.

June 21, 2011 at 10:41 pmBut it’s not a pdf – it’s a help file. When I choose print to pdf it creates a pdf of only the cover page. If there’s a trick I’m missing I’d appreciate knowing.
Thanks!

June 22, 2011 at 2:10 pmOkay, so now I have a pdf of the help file, but the links within it are disabled and there’s no index. For crying out loud, is apple going to give us a manual?!
