  • used wrong aspect ratio to upconvert with AJA LHi card, can I fix it with Distort tab in FCP7???

Posted by Nick Natteau on August 20, 2011 at 3:03 am

After upconverting a bunch of WWII stock footage delivered to me on NTSC mini-DV tapes, I realize that I used the wrong aspect ratio to up convert. In my Kona LHi AJA menu I should have selected Pillarbox 4:3. Instead it was set to Anamorphic.

So my question: Do I have to offline everything and re up convert using “Pillarbox 4:3”?

Or is it exactly the same if I simply go into my FCP7 Motion-Distort tab, and select “33.33” for the aspect ratio, thereby giving me the 4:3 pillarbox aspect ratio???

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

No, it’s not “exactly” the same, but you will not be able to discern the difference, so it’s “effectively” the same.
