How do I make use of my old Excel formatted tape logs from Premiere 6.5 to capture and archive this material. Originally I had to export the tape log as a delimited file and then import it into the Excel format. I don’t see anywhere on the Capture screen which would present a pathway to the use of this material.

My guess would be that you have to save your .xls files to a simpler format – easy to do in Excel – just do a “Save As” and choose your flavor. My guess would be either a comma-delimited .csv, .txt, or whatever other flavor Premiere Pro lists:

There’s probably just too much formatting information in the .xls structure to work directly in Premiere Pro.

I can’t thank you enough for responding to my problem of using Premiere 6.5 logs to upload into CS6! I’ve tried posting in many places and you are the only one to respond. However, I’m still having trouble and can’t make the darn process work. When importing I get an error message: “The importer reported a generic error.” Now where to go?

To simplify matters, I extraced the log info for only one tape, saved it as a comma delimited file (csv) and then went to “Project: Import Batch List” and chose this csv file. The results above.

So as not to be a pest, where should I go to get a lead on what to do?
I feel as if I’m right at the door but can’t get in.
