Use of Film Lenses?
Posted by Alessandro Gentile on January 27, 2008 at 4:48 amCan you use film lenses on this camera body (zeiss etc.)?
I’m interested in purchasing this camera, but am totally on the fence about it. Is it a good investment for a DP?

January 27, 2008 at 6:19 amWhich camera? HVX-200? HPX-500? HPX-2000?
The HVX-200 has a built in lens…non-removable. Not sure about the other ones.

January 27, 2008 at 4:53 pmThere are adapters to use a variety of lenses, even on fixed-lens cameras. Here are a few:

January 27, 2008 at 8:33 pmI apologize for not mentioning the camera I was referring too. Its the Panasonic HPX500. Can you mount film lenses to the body?

January 27, 2008 at 11:01 pmThe 500 has a standard B4 lens mount.. So any lens with this mounting will work. When using primes the 500 is supposed to have a switch that flips the image for proper viewing. DVXuser has a couple great threads on different lenses and the HPX500.

January 29, 2008 at 5:57 pmI have an HPX500 and use the Zeiss Digi-Primes with it all the time. They look great.
I have also used Pro35 with Zeiss Super Speeds, but prefer the Digi Primes because there is no light loss.

Which primes are in your collection? How much was the investment?
I am planning to purchase the 500, and the use of prime lenses is the reason.
