Use 5.1 EDL on 5.0 version

open the 5.1 project in a 5.1.x version of FCP and export as XML version 2
that XML should import on your version 5.0.x system

just as a side note: recently I edited on a Macbook Pro using FCP 5.1.2 then exported an XML for editing on my G5 that runs FCP 5.0.4. I tried XML version 2 first and the earlier FCP wouldn’t open the file. Exporting an XML version 3 file was what FCP 5.0.4 needed.
