OK, I’m a newbie on this, having just this week migrated to FCP/Multibridge Extreme (because I like the idea of buying stuff which MAY still be functional when we make the jump to HD).

So, I’ve looked through the manual and can’t seem to find ANY reference to the USB connection, other than the fact it’s THERE.

WHAT’S THE USB CONNECTOR ON THE FRONT FOR??? Everything else has an obvious and labeled function.

Thanx, folks. I’m sure I’ll be back with more dumb questions.

The USB port is used to connect your computer and the Multibridge together so you can change the default settings and update the firmware.

    Hi,

The USB connection serves 2 purposes:

    1) Updating of firmware. When you install new drivers, you’ll be prompted to update the firmware on the Multibridge Extreme. This is via USB.

    2) Controlling the Multibridge Extreme when it is in converter mode (disconnected from PCIe) in conjunction with the Multibridge Utility software.

    regards
