Posted by Doug Shoha on January 16, 2006 at 11:44 pmMatt, I will be teaching a course at a local college, and want to use commotion for a variety of reasons. Does pinnacle still sell commotion pro?

January 17, 2006 at 1:13 amI don’t think it is for sale anymore. I will get someone from PCLE to chime in here.

February 11, 2006 at 5:35 pmAvid now owns rights to Commotion. They integrated parts of it into their (previously Pinnacle’s) NLE called Avid Liquid Edition 7. There have been rumors that Matt has ben trying to convince them to put more of Commotion into LE. Are the rumors true Matt?

February 12, 2006 at 10:36 pmCommotion really isn’t integrated into Liquid. The Composite Wizard and Image Lounge plug-ins bundled with Commotion are now bundled into Liquid. These were not part of the core Commotion toolset, but were added to Commotion 3.0 when Puffin Designs acquired the ISFX plug-ins for After Effects.
I have not been talking to anyone at Avid or Pinnacle about adding Commotion’s tools into Liquid. My shop is all Mac-based, so if anything we would just want the stand-alone Commotion updated. 16bit paint and advanced matte cutting tools would be nice. Scott Squires who originally wrote Commotion has been in contact with Avid, so if the planets align there may be hope.
