Hi there, got a really frustrating issue here, that needs solving urgently, although I do fear that the answer may be in the question:

I’m using AE7, trying to render out uncompressed video to frames having applied Tinderbox’s ‘Old Film’ plugin to the footage. It wouldn’t render as a movie so I figured I’d do it as frames and start off from where it (if it) crashed. However, it’s reached a point now where it simply won’t render whatsoever, not one frame more. I think the heart of the problem lies with my new Intel Mac, I’ve noticed similar posts regarding problems with Mac Books and AE as well it being a plugin that’s probably designed for AE 6.5. (tops).

However, I need a render within the next few hours and hoped people might be able to throw render and anti crashing techniques at me – i’ll try anything! I’m already purging at 1, 2, or 3 frames during making movie (secret prefs) and am rendering to frames with preview disabled (caps lock) – the render has to be full quality, are there any other option for me here?

    Thanks in advance

    Simon

P.S. It’s a Mac Book Pro, 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo, 2GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM and a lot of pleading from it’s user to boot…

I’d set it to purge every 1 frame, and have ONLY AFX running. (and your finder of course….)
Let it sit also. Our PCs in house ABSOLUTELY HATE running projects off our server, for network renders, but if I let them sit for around 10 minutes with a white AFX screen, the project loads.
Go grab a beer and cross your fingers when its rendering.

If it is any help, I used the same project on my Mac Book which wouldn’t render after a few minutes and my Powerbook. No problem with the Powerbook but certainly a problem with the Mac Book. What is the deal?
