[walter biscardi] “No testing has been done on the PPC machines as of today and we will not know if those will be qualified until more testing is done. When the Io HD is released in July, AJA will release a full list of qualified machines that will work with the Io HD.”

Many thanks! I certainly do hope that it will work with the PPC Mac, I only just bought mine a little over two years ago… sigh

I’m hoping my dual G5 will work with it too. I’ll be glad when the final specs are out on Pro Res from Apple and AJA I think it’s all still not deciede yet… AJA’s not shipping until July either so the “truth’ will be known with release FCS2. Pro res for SD is an interesing notion too. 10 Bit 4:2:2… yummy.

Sending back to tape puts another compression on the image though. Just putting 720p in a 1080p timeline and letting FCP just scale up with high quality mode on works very well. Issue here is it doesn’t handle issues of frame rates, so won’t help for 720p60 to 1080i60, and it won’t add 3:2 pulldown to 720p24 to 1080i60.
