  Upres, then down, CIneForm from h.264 base, questions?

  Been following along in Harrington’s books, but I have a couple generic questions.

  The theory (?) is that transcoding h.264 from an HDslr, into CS5.5PP is best done with ProRes or CineForm etc. for various reasons.

  That being said, once the timeline is baked, edited, and titled, rendering it into a “master” file should be done at the highest possible output, allowing the best format for down stream conversion to DVD, BluRay, html5, Flash and so on.

  Question number 1: 4.2.2 or 4.4.4?

  Question number 2: When attempting a step down conversion transcode (prior to upload to a site like Vimeo or Smug Mug, or building an SD/DVD) is there a format version which is more universal than another? Say to h.264?

  Or does one simply down-res directly into the upload engine of the site, or DVD (Adobe Media Encoder) program and choose AVI/MOV etc?
