My MacBook Pro has MacOS X Leopard and I am running Media 100 Producer v13. I have purchased Snow Leopard and the Media 100 Suite 2.1 upgrade. I have not yet installed Snow Leopard. What is the proper procedure to install the Media 100 Suite V2.1 upgrade?

I recommend that you buy an external USB drive and back up your system to it (with Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner) so you can get back to where you started in case of a problem.
Then, install Snow Leopard, but don’t let it update to 10.6.8 if you have any NTSC-601 media in the Media 100i codec. After that, you can run the Media 100 Suite installer.

Thanks for your help. I do Time Machine backups. I will be sure to do one just prior to install.

You should also make sure you install QuickTime 7 again – the default with Snow Leopard is QuickTime X which has its own issues (or is it just me?). QT 7 should be in the ‘Optional Software Installation” folder (or whatever it’s called) on the Snow Leopard disc.

QT 7 is certainly the way to go in whatever circumstances, version 10 will not do many of the things that 7 will and is a retrograde step (where have we heard that before?).

Is it necessary to uninstall Media 100 Producer v.13?
