upgrade to 5.1.2
Posted by Scott Witthaus on October 31, 2006 at 2:59 pmAssuming I need to go to 5.1 first. Is this a downloadable upgrade (to 5.1)? Thanks in advance.

October 31, 2006 at 3:35 pmIts very easy and it only costs $49 per software set you own. That’s cheap compared to the features available in FCP 5.1 over 5.0.4.

October 31, 2006 at 3:44 pmYeah, but in hindsight (I sent in my discs last week) it sure is a final change, what if you want to go back to 5.0 for some reason? It’s gone.

October 31, 2006 at 4:09 pmWell, that’s where you need to have a backup of your system drive on an external firewire device. You can get a copy of Carbon Copier (which is free) and make a close of your system drive on a backup, so if you need to go back for some unknown reason you can. BUT keep in mind that FCP projects are NOT backward compatible.

October 31, 2006 at 4:17 pmThere’s no major gotchas that I know of that means you would need to go back!
