I have Media100 2.1 running on OS X 10.6.8, I have an AJA Kona LHi card running version 8.0. My questions is, should I upgrade to the Media 100 2.1.3? Will I also need to upgrade my Mac OS…. ? Will I also have to update my drivers for the AJA card? (What version do I need?)

I want to keep current but fear all this will just cause more problems that it is worth?

I was on 2.1 and have done the upgrade as I was in between projects but quite honestly don’t find any difference. I generally limit upgrades to when there is an obvious reason. I think that there comes a time when it’s clearly wise to keep up, say after at least two version changes but you seem perfectly OK at present. It really depends on circumstance obviously but I’d leave well alone.

If you ever plan to upgrade your computer and go to an external video output device such as the AJA ioXT, I would at least download 2.1.3. It adds support for Thunderbolt connected video devices. I am still using an AJA LHi in a Mac Pro 2010, and have had no problems with it on 10.6.8 and 10.8.2.
