Upgrade: from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion …?
Snow Leopard has been my fav OS, but it seems some pro applications are moving beyond.
Not ready to try Mavericks yet, due to lack of Avid support.Adobe CC requires later than 10.8.6 for some newer versions of their applications.
So writing is on the wall.
What’s the feeling here – Lion or Mountain Lion as the better, more stable OS?
I specifically need to run FCP 7, Avid MC 6.5 and latest After Effects.I’ll be keeping a back-up drive loaded with Snow Leopard, just in case!

FCS runs well on Mountain Lion.

Sorry for the late response, but I’ve been thru the last four OSX versions from necessity. Loved Snow Leopard, (came with the laptop) but PluralEyes needed Lion, so I upgraded. No problems. Skipped Mountain Lion (at first), no apps I owned needed it.
Mavericks comes out: free. Followed this forum for issues, seemed OK, so I upgraded. Well, CS5.5 is not (will not be) fully compatible (Encore specifically). Need at least CS6 (and maybe Cloud now) to work, so I went back to a time machine of Lion.
Since I shoot as well, the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera needs Mountain Lion or later. Can’t find it at the App Store, but lots of copies on Ebay (disc form, no download). Runs my FCS3 and CS5.5 (don’t have Avid sadly, but Kevin P. McAuliffe says it works: so it does), and that would be my call. It’s the newest established system, with enough time for 3rd party apps to conform.
Hope to have a Hackintosh built by the time I need Mavericks. All Apple’s new computers are nearly impossible to change/upgrade from the factory build (i.e 2nd video card,SSD, etc.). The post-Jobs Apple is a sad reflection of the former…

Sounds like Mountain Lion may be the way to go, then.
