So FC Studio 2 upgrade will overwrite ALL of the FC Studio 1 application files and preferences?

Yes, FC Studio will overwrite the apps. A new feature in FCP 6 is it will remember your previous FCP preeferences. I still recommend creating a project called Favorites in case you do lose your preferences.

Drag your Favorites Folder into a bin in your Browser.

would it work the same to just use “Disk Utility” to create a disk image of the current system drive/volume, or is CCC really the best way to go? either way, i’ve downloaded it and will probably give it a shot here shortly…(gotta run out and get another drive first!)

Carbon Copy Cloner is the best way to go… and the safest. Because you already have the drive ready to boot and waiting with your older working version. Its well worth the investment in a drive.
