  • Updating soon to Interplay and (newer) Nitris with Vista

Due to our present version of Isis and Media Manager, our facility is still running a much older version of Symph NItris (1.09 I believe) in our five Avid bays. Along with Win XP.

Soon enough,we will be upgrading to Avid Interplay for MMgr needs, and along with it a switch to a more recent version of Nitris, and from what I understand Windows Vista(shudder), as well.

Is anyone on these boards using both a recent Nitris version along with Interplay and Nitris, along with Vista? Should I expect a huge performance increase? What are some problems to look out for…etc etc.
Is Vista helpful or will it kill us in the beginning? We’re currently doing both HD as well as SD editing and outputs, along with a smattering of 24P. Much file transferring as well, using S3/Venaca/Media Manager/Signiant between 2 coasts.

Just looking for some tips and perhaps some topics to address and be prepared for when we meet and greet the Avid folks at NAB. We’ll probably be switching sometime soon following NAB.

Thanks for any insight from the knowledgeable folks who browse and post on the Cow!

Symphony v3.x absolutely benefits from Vista 64b. The increase in available physical RAM alone was worth it for me.
That said, I did tweak V64B, turned off a lot of fancy stuff, and such.
