I am working on migrating old lesson files from included DVD’s (Michael Wohl, et. al., 2012) that shipped with ‘Final Cut Pro X Advanced Editing’. The project files and media came on 2 DVD’s.

Using a trial version of FCP 10.2 (to provide an update path to FCP 10.3), I was able to update the content from the first DVD, but not the second.

I’m running into this message, when I try running ‘Update Projects and Events’ – ‘Choose a SAN location or folder containing Final Cut Projects and Events to update into a new library. The current selection is not valid. Choose another SAN location or folder’

Is this something to do with the files having originated on DVD? I have managed to move all content onto the desktop, so I thought at that point I would be good to work with the folders and files contained therein. So far, not so. I have seen some references to SAN here on the forums, but it appears to be more to do with networked storage. The Apple help resources are cryptic for non-engineering types.
