  • updated video card to 256 mb now print to tape flickers

    Good Morning.

Last week I upgraded my video card from a 64 mb to a 256 in hopes of eliminating the flickering that happens when I view on an external monitor. I assumed that the ram wasn’t enough to keep pace with the time line.

With the new card I can view on external monitor with a little less flicker (still there though) but now I find that the print to tape function will not work properly. It did with the previous card no problem. Now the screen flickers with print to tape like it does when viewed from the time line.

Could it be a compatibility issue? I have 1 gig of DDR RAM, an AMD XP 2000, an Asus A7V266-E motherboard and Windows 2000. My old card was an MSI nvidia and the new card is an MSI nVidia with 256 mg of ram.

And on a completely separate note, I haven’t read much about V6. At least not as much as I thought i.e. no raves or rants. Is it a good thing or no?

What nVidia card do you have? I have 5700LE w/256mb and have no problems. Have you downloaded the latest drivers? I run XP not 2000. I have 2 19″ LCD monitors that I run (one VGA and other DVI). I am not using the new monitor feature in Vegas 6 though. I run to a TV via firewire and Canopus.

I’ve got FX 5500 and downloaded the latest drivers which seemed to do the trick. Thanks. As for the preview out, I don’t see that I have any other way to get to an external monitor other than via Vegas. There is an s-video port but I don’t think I can use that while using my dual monitors at the same time. Can you?

    Erik.

S-Video just gives a low quality output of what is on the monitor. I use the firewire output in Vegas to get to the external monitor. I go through Canopus 100 but you can do a pass through on your DV camera (if it supports pass through).
