Ooohhh! Look at me getting the first post in the FCP forum with a link to the new MacBook Pros!

Now flame away since this is so off topic, and I have nothing significant to say. 😉

    Cheers!

Kind of follows with last year when the laptop was released either just before or during NAB. Nice update and this makes the “Air” look even more like a senseless purchase. The $1999 MacBook Pro completely kills the $1799 “Air” in tech specs.

I’m still not on the same wave length as everyone else as far as the Air is concerned. I don’t think it’s that bad at all. Granted, I don’t think it’s aimed at professionals at all. As it’s been noted the tech specs take care of that, but I don’t think that’s what Apple is gunning for with it. It seems to me that it’s geared more for business people who are constantly on the move, and don’t need tons of power, but do need more than an iPhone. That may be niche market to most of us, but I think it’s a valuable market that other than the iPhone, Apple’s not been directly involved with. Besides, it’s a Rev 1. It’s bound to have it’s short-comings like ever other first gen Apple product, or anyone else’s first gen product. It might be expensive too, but again, the people who would get the most use out of it, would be the ones who could afford it.

Winston, I think you have a cold fire…. no flame…

The only changes that I can tell is 2.4 went to 2.5 and you can still buy the upgrade 2.6.. They increased the ram 2 to 4gig and put 512mb ram on a new monitor card…

Not much change from my Dec 31, 11:30PM purchase… Unless that new monitor card is really that much more awesome… More ram is always nice..

I think they are just being a good boy scout and keeping the fire going with twigs…

Just realized the Mac Books also got another speed bump too. Updates all around.
