Update to 5.1.4 oddity

Hi

I just updated both suites to 5.1.4. The Quad G5 suite went fine and all seems to be ok. The dual G5 suite updated fine HOWEVER when opening a project using the Title 3D Boris plug in an error came up saying the plug in was missing. I checked the plug ins bin and it was there but in a form not like the other suite, no icon, just a .bundle extension with content in it but no plug in. Seeing as I use this plug in all the time and it comes with fcp and it works in the other suite I am stymied why this is the case. Any ideas??

That is one wacked solution. Apple wasn’t aware of this? Sleeping at the switch I guess.
I’ll try your solution if I can even follow the route. I guess the boris script wasn’t much help to you?

Mike,

This isn’t a problem with any particular build of the app. It’s a quirk on various individual machines as far as I can tell. Computer Voodoo. The Boris apps don’t totally conform to the FCP APIs, so they tend to have issues that other plug-ins don’t. For instance, you might be the only person with 5.1.4 who’s hit this problem. Or maybe you are one of a handful. No telling. Report the issue to Apple through the Send Feedback link inside FCP.

Hi Oliver

I tried both solutions from the previous link. Your solution of making duplicate packages and renaming them and re inserting the Boris contents seemed to work up until I had to put it into the fcp plug ins folder.
Here I have four packages. Do I double click them to install? That doesn’t work. Do I just drag them to the folder ?

No, just drag them into the plug-ins folder. Take out the old ones. The key is that the “new” versions have to appear with a plug-in icon rather than a simple folder icon.

For those who might need this fix
I got a great guy, Paul , from BORIS to post me the plugs that resolve any issues with the Title 3d and other Boris titler plugs not showing up in the pull down portion of FCP 5.1.4. They work BEAUTIFULLY so thanks to Paul at BORIS support for the fix.
He may just put a posting on here for those who are still grappling with this problem.
