  • Update option for FCPX doesn’t show up in App Store

There is no update option for me in the App store for FCPX. I installed the program in June and I am also running FCP7. Is anyone else having this problem? The Updates for Motion and Compressor worked just fine.

Yes this happened to me as well.

I contacted Apple and they admitted that this is happening to a number of users.

The solution is to uninstall FCPX and then the 10.0.1 can be installed from the AppStore.

    This worked perfectly for me.

To uninstall drag the FinalCutProApp to the trash and empty trash.

You don’t even have to empty the trash. I just updated my Mac Pro and it worked putting FCP X 10.0 in the trash and not emptying it. I tried this just to be safe. FWIW

I suspect this is the growing pains of internet distribution of apps.

In my particular case, I’d downloaded the original purchase while working under one User ID, then didn’t realize that my machine was in a diffrent partition under a different ID when I bought Motion and Compressor.

That made it impossible to download updates for each in the same session.

I’ve got a similar thing going in my iTunes Music Store accounts – where I’ve used my son’s unused gift card balanced in the past to download apps or content, not fully realizing that if I did so under his Account name, the ownership of those would NOT be reflected in my account, even tho his was a sub account under mine and funded by the same credit card.

    New era growing pains.
